The places Eragon has so far visited throughout the course of the Trilogy is listed below in order visited!
Alagaësia
Alagaësia: Land of Dragons, home of Eragon. Alagaësia is a continent full of mountains, lakes, forests and deserts. Alagaësia was once the "Land of the Dragons", until the race of Dragons was ended by Galbatorix... except for one. Alagaësia is home to five main civilizations: the Empire, the Varden, the Elves, the Dwarves, and Surda. Alagaësia is host to seven islands off of its west coast, Vroengard being the main and most important because it was once home to the Dragon Riders. Alagaësia is falling less and less untied as time goes by, mainly because of the fight over who will control the next generation of Riders.
The Spine
The Spine is a vast mountain range which covers a majority of Alagaësia's west coast.
Carvahall
Carvahall is located in The Spine, a vast mountain range covering most of the west coast of Alagaësia. Carvahall is home to Eragon, as well as Brom, Garrow, Roran and other characters. The town is full of many different stores ranging from a Meat Store to a Blacksmith. Twice a year, Carvahall is home to the Travelers, a group of traveling merchants and entertainers, who bring the town together for a few nights of shopping and celebration. Carvahall is one of the only towns in Alagaësia which has not been disturbed by the Urgals.
Palancar Valley
A valley in northern Alagaësia. The base of the Igualda Falls makes up the northern most point of the valley. A little ways away from the falls is Carvahall. The Anora River wound from the falls toward Palancar's southern end. It passed the village of Therinsford also in the Palancar Valley. There are no more villages in the valley. Few came this far north except for merchants and trappers.
Therinsford
Therinsford is a town larger than Carvahall. The town is located along the Anora River, having to cross the bridge to get into the town. The outer edges of the town are lined with farms and farm land. The town was crowded and constructed haphazardly, built in no particular order. Therinsford is the town where Roran recently took a job at a Mill.
Yazuac
Yazuac is a small village located close to the Ninor River. The village has smaller houses lining the edges and a bit larger ones heading into the middle. The town was raided by a pack of Urgals, killing all living animals and people.
Daret
Daret is a small and wild-looking town located on the banks of the Ninor River. The town is fully protected by archers and guards who stop all trespassers that aren't welcome to their town. The town is often raided by Urgals and bandits, causing everyone in the town to be up-tight and over-protective.
Teirm
Teirm is located along the shore of the Sea. The city itself is contained behind a huge white wall, at least a hundred feet tall and thirty feet wide. The top of the walled is covered in rows of rectangular arrow slits lining it and a walkway on top for soldiers and watchmen. The castle of Teirm was the only thing visible over the huge wall. The houses were grim and foreboding, with flat roofs for archers to perch on incase of emergency. The town's shortest buildings lined the edge of the city, progressively getting taller as you go further in.
Fasaloft
Fasaloft was a small lakeside village. It was a very charming place set on a rise overlooking the shimmering LakeWaodark.
Dras-Leona
Unlike Teirm, a planned city, Dras-Leon was a tangled mess sprawled next to Leona Lake. Ramshackle buildings sat on crooked streets, and the hear of the city was surrounded by a dirty, pale yellow wall of daubed mud. Helgrind was the reason Dras-Leona was originally built.
Helgrind
Helgrind is a mountain of bare rock which shoots up into the sky with spires and columns. Near-vertical sides rise out of the ground like a jagged piece of earth's bone. People are fascinated by Helgrind, even though it is a unhealthy and malevolent place. The people of Dras-Leona's prayers go to Helgrind.
Gil'ead
Little is known about Gil'ead other than it is a heavily fortified city completely under the King's control. This is the city in which Eragon and Arya we both imprisoned and rescued by Murtagh and Saphira.
Ramr River
The Ramr River is a huge, strong and fierce river which flows throw much of central Alagaësia. The river itself can be as thick as fifty miles across at some points, and up to half a mile across at others. The river cannot be crossed by swimming or on horseback, for the current is way to strong.
Hadarac Desert
The Hadarac Desert covers the majority of Alagaësia, and is one of the largest areas of land that is out of the Empire's control. Because of the size of the Hadarac Desert, it is nearly impossible for the Empire to control what lies on the other side. The Desert is miles wide, and has no food or water until you reach the other side. The only shelter you may find lay in the few mountains, where only the brave dwell.
Beor Mountains
The Beor Mountains are a huge mountain range located on the south east side of Alagaësia. The Beor Mountains hides and provides a home for the Varden and the Dwarves. With some mountain peeks as high as ten miles, they offer ample protection against the most dangerous enemies. The Beor Mountains, the Hadarac Desert, Du Weldenvarden Forest, and Surda are the only places on Alagaësia that aren't under the Empire's control.
Farthen Dûr
Farthen Dûr is a huge and elegant hollowed-out mountain, owned by the Dwarves. It provides shelter for both the Varden and the Dwarves, who are hidden from the Empire. High above, the Star Sapphire (thousands of huge icicles), glimmered in the morning light. The Star Sapphire was shattered in the Battle of Farthen Dûr.
Eldest Locations
Tarnag
Tarnag is a dwarven city located in the Beor Mountains. The dwarves have reworked the surrounding mountains into habitable areas, supporting terraces and farms. Above the farms, interlocking buildings rise to a beautiful gold dome at the top of the city. Eragon stopped here on the way to Ellesméra. Here he was instructed on dwarf religion. However, crowds and clans of dwarves opposed to his reaction made the stay under the welcome of clan cheif Undin less than plesant.
Du Weldenvarden
Eragon, Orik and Arya spent many days traveling through the magical forest of the elves on their journey to Ellesméra. Magic flows thick throughout the forest, and affected even Saphira during their journey. Magical plants and creatures are abundant.
Ellesméra
The beautiful capital of the elves is unlike any other city in Alagaësia. Instead of building their city over the floor of Du Weldenvarde, the elves built their city into it. Singing to the magical forest, the elves shaped trees and other plants into magnificent buildings. Ellesméra is rich with intricate artwork everywhere you look. Throughout the city, elves spend their entire lives focusing on whatever whim pleases them at the moment, accomplishing tasks with great skill. Eragon and Saphira spend years in Ellesméra training under Orimis and Glaedr. While in Ellesméra, Eragon also experiences the Agaetí Blödhren, the blood-oath celebration, celebrating the link that created the Riders. It is here that he is transformed from a human to an elf, removing the wound Durza gave him in Farthen Dûr.
Aberon
The capital of Surda. Nasuada and the Varden spend many months here under the protection of King Orin, however Eragon stops only breifly with Saphira and Orik on the way to the Burning Plains (see below). It is here that the Varden and people of Alagaësia first see Eragon's transformation to an elf.
The Burning Plains
The Burning Plains is a wide expanse of desert on the edge of Surda. It is here that the first major battle of the war between Galbatorix and the Varden and Surda takes place. This is also the location of several other key events, including: Roran's first glimpse of Saphira, and Eragon as a Rider; the Twins death by Roran's hand; Eragon's first duel with Murtagh as an agent of Galbatorix, and Thorns first duel with Saphira; the people of Carvahal join the Varden.
